Why all relegions ,traditions and customs mostly tend towards controlling behaviour and freedom of women?

Because most religious scriptures were written by men who were sexist and viewed women as inferior people.

It's about time people turned their back on religion, in fact, it's long overdue.

If people want to believe in God, that's fine. But why believe in the religious scriptures and books? After all, these books were written by men, not by any god.Why all relegions ,traditions and customs mostly tend towards controlling behaviour and freedom of women?
Heck read the ';Da Vinci code';. It has some interesting writings on women, religion and how they in some cases got screwed.

Why all relegions ,traditions and customs mostly tend towards controlling behaviour and freedom of women?
Because men, not women make the rules of religion.
no, Vedanta of Hinduism never do this.
Christianity treats women with respect.

The Bible says that as Christians

we are no longer jew nor greek

male nor female

bond nor free

We are all one in Christ...
Fear of women's brains and worrying what other men think.
religons are a reflection of a society trying to keep order for its own survival. sort of like the alpha lion can control 5 lionesses he want s to mate with. its all based on survival. humans can not survive as solitary creatures. in the society, men and women coexist. i think men were controllling women though brute force before the religons that reenforced the behavior sprung up.
Because when the rules were written down only men could write.
Because men are sexually frustrated and jealous.

You should not forget that there are still societies in this world where women lead.

Edit @Duirmud; In most buddhist societies, women are second class citizens as well. It might be easier for them to climb to a higher position than in e.g, Muslim societies.
I think because a lot of religions are man made.
they have been used to control the poor and illiterate and they still are.
I am not aware that Christianity binds a woman in any way.

Women are looked upon as equal in the fold of Christ.

God Bless You!
Because they were all founded by men.
People have twisted the pure meanings of Gods teachings, so that men and stupid women that follow stupid men can maintain power over women. Males and Females must be treated equally.
Interesting question. Why indeed?

i may be wrong but I dont think Buddhism tries to do this. Does anybody know?

Are there any religions that are different?
thats just human nature. we are here with a strong driving urge to procreate. we are also selfish and only want our genes to pass on. so the more women we have and control, the better. biologically speaking of course
Just an educated guess, but maybe because the human sex drive is so strong and so universal, and the family unit is so basic to a stable society, heavy-handed rules are thought necessary to control them by making them understandable to all.
There is a theory that it all stemmed originally from the need to control paternity.

Women have ALWAYS known if the children they have are actually theirs. Men haven't always been so sure.
I think one could just as easily argue that in the opposite direction. Religion, as it is construed today, actually benefits married women with children and elderly women by encouraging men to settle down, get married, and become family men.

Most of the athiests I know personally are actually guys. Most of them are single guys who consider religion to be a sort of mind control and behavior modification control scam to keep guys pacified and an ';in line'; so that they will settle down and protect and support women.

I don't buy into any of that thinking mind you - just letting you know that there is another angle you could look at it from.

My own opinion is that religion overall, while yes being responsible for some atrocities in the past, has overall been a positive and civilizing influence on mankind, and on the whole we are better off with it than without it.
The don't all. And history has many examples of matriarchal and matrilineal religions and cultures.

Mostly the Middle-Eastern derived ones (patriarchal monotheism) has coloured the scene somewhat c0ck-shaped.

Religions that fear women usually paint a woman as 'unclean' in their culture. Hence the mythical 'Eve' is portrayed as the one who ate the fruit and tempted Adam, hence women have their genitals mutilated by male-orientated religious cultures.

Read the 'Malleus Maleficarum'; (Christian book 'Hammer of the Witches')

Compare to Wiccan/Witch writings.

And tell me which religion of the two really respects women...

The Ancient Britons worshipped a mother goddess, and warrior women also taught men and women how to fight.

Queen Boudicca is a fine example. The Romans came along and raped her daughters, so she went mental on their a55es...and lead tribes against the Romans...

Look out for Mel Gibson, he'll probably Hollywoodize it...

Women's dignity took a backward step with the arrival of monotheism.
The God Yahweh has been misinterpreted as hating women when in fact His hygiene laws were all about keeping diseases from spreading throughout a community through uncontrolled sex, through food contamination and from surface contacts with menstrual blood and semen.
We believe that a woman is the embodiment of 'sakti', the divine creative force with which God enacts the worldly drama. One is required to transcend the attachment to sensual enjoyment in order that he realised his divine potential. Hence, the society has fixed certain code of conduct for regulating the relations between man and woman. A woman basically is incorruptible and it is because of the male connection she is dragged into the pitfalls of sin, contrary to the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Hence, the dos and donts affecting the man and woman relations. In a male dominated society, the woman is at the receiving end.
Because women used to rule the world , and they will do again in the future.

Everything a man does in his life is ultimately for the woman.

So its better to control them than have them control you.

Men need women , do women need men?

The only thing a woman needs a man for is fertilisation.
Because many of them are old and from a time of great female oppression, and therefore the teachings also ';tend towards'; female oppression.
Because they are patriarchal.
Not true. Christianity is the best thing that ever happened to women.

Unless of course you think a woman is really free when she is being forced into temple prostitution.

I ordered a remote control car from uk i live in ireland will there be a customs charge?

the postage was 拢60 and it cost 拢150 weighs 60kgI ordered a remote control car from uk i live in ireland will there be a customs charge?
Nope. We were in a similar situation about a year ago when we bought a very old Peruvian manuscript, paid a bit for it and the seller wrote the real price on the customs form to our shock (many sellers will write a fake low price and mark it as gift) and we were crapping ourselves that we'd be stung for some import tax but as it turned out we didn't have to pay anything! : ) But as yours is coming from the UK there won't even need to be a customs form on it as far as I know.I ordered a remote control car from uk i live in ireland will there be a customs charge?
Very unlikely, unless you are buying in quantity for resale
No No you will be ok. no charge.
No, there will not be any charge. There is free movement of goods within the E.U.

Can I bring back birth control pills through customs into the United States from Argentina ?

I normally get pills from planned parenthood in the united states and don't have a prescription, but I do have one of the labels with my name and the planned parenthood doctor's signature on an old pack of pills.

I have been living in Argentina where the pills are available from a pharmacist without a prescription. Does anyone know if it is okay to bring them back, and how many packs I can bring through customs if it is okay?

I looked on the customs website but since birth control isn't a narcotic or a dangerous substance I wasn't sure which rules apply.

Thanks! Can I bring back birth control pills through customs into the United States from Argentina ?
Yes you can. Just put them in your purse and don't worry about it.

Do what is right to begin with, and customs has no reason to pick on you. It's the LAW.Are the customs at the airports in NZ as bad as they appear on the TV documentary called border control.?

  • Mail package in customs--anyone know the address or phone number of the CA boarder control and customs?

I've ordered 2 jackets online, and it shipped from Hong Kong. The company that I've ordered from didn't put an invoice in the package. The package is now stuck in customs. I got a letter from the US boarder control and customs asking me to send in the invoice for that package. I did that 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't gotten my package. And I didn't make a copy of what they've sent me, so now I'm really stuck! Does anyone have the address or phone number for that dept? I remember that it is located in Carson, CA. (so much for ordering online and paying for express delivery --it's been 2+ months already) I tried to google it but didn't find the contact info for the US customs in Carson. Please let me know if you have their info. Thank you all!!!Mail package in customs--anyone know the address or phone number of the CA boarder control and customs?
    http://local.yahoo.com/results?fr=dd-loc鈥?/a>

If you have the notice from the USPS, you might want to try calling the post office to find out which US Customs office they sent it to. Also try to get ahold of the Hong Kong place that sent it out (they should have filled out the US Customs forms so it would pass through without a hitch) and have them email you a duplicate invoice (and always keep a copy for yourself)--since it is their fault it hasn't gotten through, you can mention that you could demand them refund your shipping costs if they can't get you the invoice immediately since it is their fault. Also you can mention that if stuff can't get through customs, they will have to refund you in full whether the jackets get sent back to them or if they go into the blackhole at US Customs. Motivate them to cooperate.

Would customs search through my suitcase if i put birth control pills in it?

if your flying out of the UK regardless of where your going chances are your suitcase will be searched regardless of what you have in there

dont worry they wont call out your name over the tannoy saying ms/miss/mrs X come and explain why youve got birth controll pills in your case :DWould customs search through my suitcase if i put birth control pills in it?
dont put birth control in you suite case , if they lose your luggage your screwed, well maybe not screwed!

No they will not search it. But I would carry it in carry on.Would customs search through my suitcase if i put birth control pills in it?
I doubt it, but even if they did whats the problem, its not like they are illegal or anything. If you are worried then carry them in your hand luggage, I'm sure milions of people travel everyday with them with no problem.
What if it was...no big deal is it..unless you are a guy then you may get a few strange glances.
I doubt it, dont worry im sure they have seen far worse items.

Most people have some tablets in their case in case they get sick.
if you're going to the USA your case is searched anyway...or at least it was last time I went!
You will only ever be checked at random or if something dodgy shows up in the x-ray. Birth control pills shouldnt be any problem- u are allowed to carry prescription medication both in hand luggage and in check in luggage. However- ur bag still may be randomly searched (nothing to do with the pills)........
Yes. You are the only woman on the planet who takes the birth control pill *sigh*
I've never had mine serached when I've left my pills in mine. I tend to put one packet in my hand luggage and one in the main so I always have a packet in case one item of luggage is lost.
    Yeah
Ah, no. They are looking for drugs and things that it is illegal to bring into the country ( or take out of the country). They would search your bag if they thought they needed to, or just as a random thing. You never know, but they don't care if you have birth control pills UNLESS the prescription is not in your name, then you have a real problem.
If you look like you're going to breed , of course customs would search your luggage! And if they find birth control pills, they will make you eat them all right in front of them if you want to get into the country!
I was not aware these pill are so big, they will not fit in your pocket Why pack them in a suitcase? not logical.
dont think so, have done it with hand luggage before and nothing has happened. during high security have put them in one of those plastic bags with the prescription box with my name on it just in case and put it through the xray machines.

thats probably the safest way to do it if your unsure being discrete but dont worry they're accepted im fairly sure.
It is something that customs come across daily.

    No embarrassment whatsoever.
They only search those that they think need searching. If they arent in the silver foil wrapper, then they wont show up on an x ray, so there would be no need to search it for that reason. But lots get searched just as a matter of security
depends if you were gonna ball them or not.:)
I don't think there's any need to be rude about her question. Some women don't like everybody knowing that they're taking birth control or what type they're taking. All people have the right to a private life in the ECHR.

Can i evade everything uk customs and excise control?

    as a whole ,no duty ,no tax,no nothing,no regulations whatsoever,free as a bird,if yes

how?Can i evade everything uk customs and excise control?
Yes, you can stay free as a bird, and more, receiving some bugs. But as a old bird, ahahahah!!!. Everyone who lives in the UK is entitled to an Income Tax personal allowance. This is the amount of income you can receive each year without having to pay tax on it. Depending on your circumstances, you may also be able to claim certain other allowances.

    Levels of personal allowance

The amount of your personal allowance depends on:

    * your age on 5 April 2007

    * your total income (if you are 65 or over)

Total income means everything you receive from all taxable sources. That means you need to include things like pensions and interest on your savings in a building society before the tax has been taken off.Can i evade everything uk customs and excise control?
Customs is mandatory and you can only evade fees if the goods you are bringing to a country is exempted from tariffs.
Yes, and quite simply - leave the UK.
